What We Do

Matching Pets with People

Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana's (ARF-LA) mission is to provide care, shelter and medical attention for stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs, and then place them in loving homes through our adoption process.

All animals are fully vetted and temperament tested before adoption. We have one main ARFanage kennel and a network of foster homes where our pets are housed until they find their new homes.

Visit our ADOPTION INFO page for info on our adoption requirements, fees and process.

Foster homes are at the heart of ARF-LA's ability to save lives. There is always a dog that needs you; fostering is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. Visit our FOSTERING page for more info on fostering.

  Lost or Found a Pet?

At ARF-LA, Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana, we know how devastating it is when a beloved pet is missing. We want to help reunite owners with their pets. The following information is to assist you if you have lost or found a pet.

How We are Funded

ARF-LA's funding is derived through fundraisers, donations, and adoption fees. It is a costly and labor-intensive endeavor, but the emotional satisfaction of seeing life change not only for a dog, but also for a family, a widow, a widower, or a single parent with children is VERY rewarding.

We cannot survive without donations from you. For those that are not able to help with fostering or hands on, but you still want to make a difference in saving the life of homeless pets, this is it. A donation of any size is greatly appreciated. Donations can be made with PayPal by clicking on the PayPal button below, or you can mail a check to us. Please visit our contact page for our mailing address.

How We Get Animals

We pick up abandoned animals. We rescue dogs from our local high kill shelters or pounds. We accept animals from individuals who are unable to keep their pets. We agree to take litters only if the owners agree to let us help them get their female spayed.
