Belle is a beautiful little silver Pug of about 6.5 yrs old....still a youngster for this breed. She did not have an easy start in life, as she was abandoned with no food and water during hurricane Rita. She was adopted by a nice family who loves her very much. However, their other dog is mean to Belle, so for Belle's safety, they have made the very difficult decision to find her another home. Belle's family wants you to know many things about this wonderful little girl. First of all, and understandably so after her experience, Belle has some separation anxiety. So, it is best for Belle if she is in a family where someone is home most of the day. She is crate trained, but does not like to be crated and alone. She does best when near her humans. Belle is extremely affectionate. If you do not want a constant companion who will give you kisses, sit on your lap, and sleep on your bed, Belle is not for you. She MUST be an inside dog, and a secure fenced yard is also a requirement. Pugs can have sensitive skin, eye and ear problems, and this is occasionally true of Belle. She is sensitive to fleas, so must be kept flea free. Belle does well on Iams small chunks and cannot be bathed with shampoos having fragrance additives as she is allergic to them. She can be a little hyper at first, but settles down quickly. Because of this, we are not sure how she would do with children as she has not been around them. Belle's family is looking for a very special home for a very special dog. She had a rough experience during Rita, and now must leave the family she has grown to love and who loves her very much. This is a heartbreaking decision for them, but it is in Belle's best interest. Belle will be confused at first, so she will need a little time to get adjusted.
