Volunteers play a vital role at Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana, ARF-LA. The hundreds of animals under our care have so many needs to be met; we couldn’t possibly do it without the assistance of our volunteers. Dog SocializationEnrichment Program
We need dog loving and caring individuals to help us socialize the shy dogs who are currently residing at ARFLA. The enrichment program is designed to increase adoptability while helping dogs establish confidence and maintain their mental wellbeing. Adoption Events
Help is needed by holding the dogs for adoption on leashes for meetings with potential adopters; setting up & cleaning up..
Be a Foster Parent - Foster Dogs
Do you have a love for dogs? How about caring for homeless animals temporarily in your own home. Dog kennels and crates are often available for loan to volunteers. Click here for more info on fostering and Foster application.
Fundraising
Assisting and/or leading various events as needed, selling fundraising items or working on a committee to put on an event or fund-raiser.
Humane Education
ARF-LA promotes responsible dog ownership by educating the public in the selection, care, and training of dogs. This would involve research and possibly attending seminars to educate yourself and other volunteers. We sometimes offer presentations to school children on pet care and other important topics.
Marketing
Marketing Animals Available Marketing Events Follow up of events (pictures, thank you and write up about event. Help promote adoptions and events by posting pictures & bulletins on social media sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, Etc.)
Photography
If you have a knack for digital photography, please consider this opportunity. ARF-LA is always taking pictures of new animals for the website. And it is useful to have pictures of ARF events and activities for the website and the newsletter.
Newsletter
Do you have a talent for writing and creativity? We need individuals to help write newsletters, press releases, advertisements, fliers, and brochures for our events and activities.
Special Events
We often participate in special events in which we have booths that are staffed by ARF volunteers. This includes talking with people and general public relations. We also need help planning volunteer celebration events.
Special Projects/ Office Duties
Creating flyers for events, photography, videography, data entry, etc.
Telephoning
Telephone work requires anywhere from a minimal to extensive time commitment, e.g. calls to volunteers as reminders of events, returning calls which come in to the ARF message center.
Web Site Updates
Websites need continuous updating; we need assistance with creating web pages and keeping website info up-to-date.
